A **preparation cycle** is the stretch between two stays: from a confirmed
departure to the moment the room is ready to take a guest again.

The cycle begins from a fact rather than from a date — a person has confirmed
that the guest has gone. Exactly one checkout cleaning is raised from it. Other
work may appear inside the cycle afterwards — a repair, an inspection, a
replenishment — and all of it belongs to that one cycle.

What makes the cycle worth having is that it joins things up. Without it a
cleaning, a fault, and a second cleaning after the repair are three unrelated
tasks, and nobody can answer ‘why is this room still not ready’ in one
sentence. Inside a cycle the answer is always one sentence, and always complete.

The facts a cycle records are not rewritten. Where work had to be corrected,
the history keeps both what was there and what replaced it, along with the
reason.
