ATQAR opens in a browser, but you can install it on your phone so that it starts
from an icon like a regular app.

Detailed installation steps, notification permissions, and connection checks
are available on the [help page](https://atqar.com/en/help/#install). This page explains the
benefits and what to expect from a poor connection.

## Why install it on your phone

- start it from an icon instead of finding the address each time;
- open it full-screen without the address bar;
- open it faster when the connection is weak.

It is the same ATQAR and the same account. You do not have to install it on
every device, but it is convenient on the phone you carry during your shift.

## What happens without a connection

Connections can drop in corridors and basements. This is normal and accounted
for.

**What works:** pages that are already open remain visible, the help page
opens, and the app does not crash to a blank screen.

**What does not work:** any action that changes data. You cannot mark work done,
accept or return a result, or confirm checkout without a connection.

> Product demonstration: This is what the No connection warning looks like.

## Why you cannot work offline

This is intentional. Another person reviews the work, and the task may already
have been reassigned. An action stored on a
phone and sent an hour later may relate to a situation that no longer exists.

It is better to see “no connection” immediately than to learn an hour later
that your update conflicts with what happened at the property.

## What to do when there is no connection

When the connection returns, continue from the [task list](https://atqar.com/en/tasks/):

1. Carry out the work as usual, in the room.
2. Move to a place with a connection.
3. Open the task and select the required action.

If the screen shows old data, refresh the page. On a phone, you can pull down
to do this.

## How to tell failures apart

ATQAR displays different messages for four situations:

- **browser offline** — the phone cannot currently reach the internet; pages
  that have already loaded remain visible, but data cannot be changed;
- **API unavailable** — the internet may be working, but ATQAR cannot confirm
  the current state; all changes are temporarily disabled;
- **updates reconnecting** — only the update channel has temporarily dropped;
  loaded data is marked as stale, but actions remain available through the
  working API, and ATQAR reloads the data after reconnecting;
- **media service unavailable** — other actions work, but an optional photo or
  video cannot be uploaded right now.

If the connection drops after you select an action and the outcome is unknown,
the form pauses and checks the server receipt for the operation. Do not select
the action again or create a new record. ATQAR will either load the applied
result or, after a reliable “not found” response, explicitly allow a manual
retry.

Each message includes a retry check. If it does not help, show the administrator
the type of failure and the time of the check; do not call every failure an
“internet problem”.

A photo or video is optional. If the media service is unavailable, retry the
upload or mark the work done without a file. If the work requires review, an
administrator then inspects the result onsite. The **‘Done’** action itself still requires a working API
connection.

If the media service becomes unavailable while you are completing a form, the
selected file and its reserved upload slot remain in the open page while the check is
retried and service recovers. Do not refresh or close the page before retrying:
files are not written to the phone's persistent storage or the app cache.

## If something behaves unexpectedly

The [Offline](https://atqar.com/en/help/#offline) section of the help page includes a check. It
shows the app version, connection status, and other details that will help an
administrator investigate.

If there is no incomplete upload and no selected file, the first thing to try
is closing the app completely and opening it again.
